UNITY ASSIGNMENT

For this assignment, I created an advertising campaign to promote LU’s Interior Design program utilizing three principles of design; unity, emphasis, and balance. I drew inspiration from  existing advertisements, then utilizing Photoshop, I created my own ad. I used the principle of design, unity by creating a grid with the alignment of the pictures I chose, the placement of the text, and the placement of the clipart images. I chose neutral colors to tie all the images together. I created emphasis through the different sized fonts to draw attention to the “LU Interior Design Program” by making that the largest and placing it towards the top of the poster. Lastly, I employed balance through the placement of the images, text, and clipart pieces. I created three visual triangles with each of these to move your eye throughout the piece.

RENDERED FLOOR PLAN

For this assignment, the same floor plan is rendered in two color schemes. One is an analogous scheme and the other a complimentary scheme.  Each floor plan was rendered using photoshop. I achieved the complimentary color schemes with the oranges and blues. These colors are opposite on the color when but when surrounded with neutrals, they create a calm inviting space. I achieved the analogous color scheme with the different shades of yellows, oranges and pinks. These colors together make a fun and exciting space. I used InDesign when putting together the rendered floor plans with fabric samples and pieces for the room. In addition, I utilized scale and unity when creating this piece of the project.

IMPLIED

LINE

This project illustrates how implied line can be used in a drawing. I recreated an image provided of a bowl of fruit using only dots to create implied lines.

RENDERED FLOOR PLAN

For this assignment, I used my knowledge of color theory and Photoshop to create an intricate geometric design that demonstrates value change and balance. I used my knowledge of color theory to create a value change by starting at black and using a gradient to work my way up to white. I used Photoshop to lay out my design, creating balance through symmetric hexagons before printing it. Once printed onto cardstock paper I created dimension and radial balance by stacking foam core underneath the hexagons to give them different heights. I then mounted my project onto foam core for the visual presentation.
